Helping Lactating Mothers

A lactating mother presented with significantly reduced milk production. It was down to one-fifth of her daily amount. She was becoming quite distressed as she couldn’t figure out the problem and her child was suffering as a result.

She was treated with acupuncture on the second day of reduced supply. Firstly the point Shaoze was pricked to bleed one drop. Other points used were Jianjing, Tianzong, Danzhong, Rugen and Si Guan. After one treatment of acupuncture normal lactation was restored. The delighted mother said her milk production had improved so much and even felt it was better than before the problem started. Very importantly her little girl was now much happier and feeding better.
