Abdominal Acupuncture Pre-surgery

Abdominal acupuncture was used well on a client with significant shoulder injuries involving tears on both shoulders’ rotator cuff group of muscles; the worst being the m. subscapularis on left the shoulder. An MRI scan revealed surgery was required for the pinning of same.

Following the first treatment the shoulder’s infero-medial reflex point on the abdomen was left with a distinctive bruise type mark indicating the trauma to the area for which it represents. The mark remained for up to two weeks and can be seen in the photograph above. The client had good relief from each treatment up to surgery date. Post surgery the surgeon commented how the tendons were in a very good state of health which is a very good sign for the success of the surgery and going forward.

The client gives credit to early acupuncture treatments along with heat therapy at the injury sites. It can be seen that abdominal acupuncture can provide all the benefits of acupuncture at the injury site and more where a client has a difficulty in receiving ordinary acupuncture due to an injury, restricted movement and pain.
